International fast-food giant McDonald’s recently introduced a vegan version of its chicken nuggets to its Norway locations. The nuggets are made of a mix of chickpeas, carrots, potatoes, cauliflower, corn, and onion, and are coated in a crunchy breading. McDonald’s Norway also added a new Vegetarian McFeast burger which features a breaded bean-based patty topped with cheese, “McFeast” sauce, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. The burger can be ordered without the cheese to make it vegan. The chain has continued to add new vegan options to its locations across the Nordic region since the successful launch of the McVegan burger in Finland and Sweden in 2017—where it sold 150,000 within one month. In January, McDonald’s Sweden debuted its vegan McFalafel which comprises chickpea-based falafel nuggets with a vegan pepper dip on the adult menu or as part of a Happy Meal. That same month, McDonald’s UK partnered with The Vegetarian Society to launch a vegan wrap filled with meatless chicken that can be ordered in a Happy Meal, and a similar adult version, the Spicy Veggie Wrap.
