Teese, one of the original vegan cheese brands, recently returned to the retail market. Available in three-pound packages ($16.99) exclusively through online retailer Vegan Essentials, Teese Vegan Cheese is a product of food company Chicago Vegan Foods and became popular for its stretching and melting capabilities, and long shelf life. The product, which comes in mozzarella and cheddar cheese flavors, as well as creamy cheddar sauce, and nacho cheese sauce, was discontinued in the retail market in 2015 so that the company could focus on its core product, Dandies Vegan Marshmallows. However, the company continued to offer Teese through its food-service business. “We have always had a stream of requests from former retail customers who miss Teese—from newer customers who have tried the product at a local restaurant and from the curious who are looking for something different than what they find on retail shelves—so we knew there was a little demand out there,” Dan Reed, Director of Marketing for Chicago Vegan Foods, told VegNews. “Having always had a close relationship with Vegan Essentials and knowing that they carry many food-service-sized products, we felt it was a good fit to get Teese back out there in a small way for those looking for it. We’re so thankful that after almost four years since we discontinued retail availability we still get inquiries from those who missed it.”
