Dunkin’ (formerly Dunkin’ Donuts) is considering adding vegan meat to its menu. The doughnut chain’s CEO David Hoffman spoke to CNBC about recent updates such as adding espresso and incorporating digital innovation, and discussed the company’s future plans. “We’re going to look at plant-based proteins, as well, going forward,” Hoffman said, after congratulating vegan brand Beyond Meat on its highly successful first day of trading on NASDAQ. “We’re all headed to a ‘better for you platform.’” This year, several fast-food chains have updated their menus with plant-based meat options, including A&W Canada (where the Beyond Burger option sold out consistently last summer); Carl’s Jr. (which added the Beyond Famous Star early this year); and Burger King (which plans to expand its vegan-friendly Impossible Whopper to more than 7,000 locations by the end of the year).
