A Reddit user recently spotted an entire freezer dedicated to Beyond Meat’s vegan burgers and sausages inside a Philadelphia Whole Foods Market. The user posted the photo on the vegan subreddit page, which shows the Beyond Meat-stuffed freezer with a display that urges shoppers to “try the trend.” Redditors heavily debated Whole Foods’ messaging, with some arguing that veganism is not a passing trend and others defining “trend” as the beginning of a revolution. While the term proved to be divisive, most Redditors did agree that the freezer contained a massive amount of vegan meat, with one stating: “I don’t think we have this much in our entire country.” Beyond Meat debuted the first Beyond Burger in 2016 at one Whole Foods location in Colorado. Last week, the vegan brand became the first of its kind to be publicly traded on NASDAQ and clocked the best-performing initial public offering of 2019.
