Beyond’s whole-cut steak fillets have only been available to restaurants—now they’re at this grocery chain
Since its highly anticipated launch in 2025, Beyond’s Steak Filet has only been available for foodservice or in bulk via its Beyond Test Kitchen platform (where a 10-pack will set you back nearly $100).
But while we love a good restaurant steak experience (thank you, Veggie Grill By Next Level), sometimes, we want the option to whip up a juicy portion of steak frites from home. So we were thrilled to learn that shoppers have recently been spotting the new vegan Steak Filet from Beyond at H-E-B stores in Texas. And you don’t have to pay restaurant prices, either, as you can bag a pack of two for $9.99.

MorningStar Farms makes headlines for recall of two vegan products for possible plastic contamination
Nugget fans, we’ve got some bad news. If you’ve got a pack of MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets chilling in your freezer right now, there’s a chance they’re caught up in a major recall. Alongside the brand’s Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties, the nuggets are being pulled from the shelves in the US, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica due to potential plastic contamination.
The affected Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets have a best-before date of July 7 and July 8, 2027, while the Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties have a date of July 5, July 6, and July 7, 2027. The FDA is encouraging anyone who has a recalled product to discard it and contact the store where they bought it for a refund.
Silk’s protein range is growing.
Silk is offering protein yogurts and ready-to-drink shakes now
The protein-everything trend is showing no sign of letting up, and Silk knows it. That’s why the popular dairy-free brand has launched two new protein-packed products: Silk Protein Yogurt (available in vanilla, strawberry, peach, and mixed berry flavors) and Silk Protein Shakes (in vanilla and chocolate).
While the yogurt delivers 12 grams of protein per cup (or 13 grams per serving in the larger tubs), the shakes, which are Silk’s first-ever ready-to-drink shelf-stable option, pack 30 grams of complete soy protein. They’re also a source of fiber, and are free of artificial colors, flavors, and sweeteners.

Frozen food brand Blue Zone Kitchen expands access to healthy plant-based food nationwide
It’s getting easier than ever to stock up on your plant-based favorites. Blue Zones Kitchen, for example, has just launched in 2,000 Target and Albertsons stores, bringing its total to 7,000 stores, including Whole Foods, Sprouts, Publix, and H-E-B.
Plus, popular Middle Eastern brand Mezete has launched its vegan dips, sauces, soups, stews, and snacks to retailers across the country, including Giant Eagle, Albertson’s, Meijer, Shoprite, and Whole Foods.
Aloha is also leveling up. Once regulated to the supplement aisle, the brand’s plant-based protein bars are moving to the main grocery section at Walmart, increasing visibility in around 2,000 stores.

European hostels increase plant-based choices to reduce emissions
If you’re heading to Europe this summer, don’t overlook the hostel scene. Not only are they affordable, fun, social hubs, but they’re also becoming increasingly vegan-friendly, too.
In fact, hostel association Europe’s Famous Hostels has just revealed a new partnership with nonprofit Scope Three Action, which will help more than 80 hostels across Europe offer more plant-based options through training and support. The aim is to help Europe’s hostel industry reduce its food-related climate impact. The hospitality industry is a major source of pollution, accounting for up to 3 percent of emissions globally.
“Sustainable food is often seen as a compromise. In reality, some of the most successful hospitality businesses are showing that serving more plant-rich meals can reduce emissions, expand choice, and enhance the guest experience,” said Marian Milec, the program manager at Scope Three Action. “This partnership will help more hostels across Europe unlock that opportunity.”
