Florida Throws Vegan-Friendly Hot-Dog Eating Contest on Fourth of July

Competitors get five minutes to down as many hot dogs as they can to take home the championship title.

A hot-dog-eating contest in Tampa, FL set to take place on July 4 will challenge competitors to eat as many hot dogs as possible in five minutes.  The Heights’ Hot Dog Eating Competition will bring together 25 contestants to compete and each can choose between animal-based hot dogs and vegan hot dogs, which are provided by local vegan eatery Dixie Dharma. The winner will take home the championship title, which includes a championship belt, a $500 gift card for Tampa-based fancy food dining hall Armature Works, and bragging rights. Second- and third-place winners will each take home $100 Armature Works gifts cards. All competitors will receive branded t-shirts. The competition is open to the public, who can watch the competition from the lawn.
