This month, delivery platform Grubhub released its “State of the Plate” report and found that orders of plant-based dishes, particularly of the Impossible Burger, sharply increased during its analysis period from January to May 2019 when compared to the same time period in 2018. “Continuing a trend from 2018, vegan orders are on the rise,” the report stated. Grubhub analyzed more than 500,000 orders placed on its platform on an average day during the first half of 2019 and found that vegan orders increased by 25 percent, with orders of Impossible Burgers up by 82 percent. Grubhub identified the Midwest and West as regions where the Impossible Burger has grown in popularity, rising by 326 percent and 194 percent, respectively. When it comes to late-night orders, the Impossible Burger increased in popularity during the time period by 529 percent. Grubhub identified eight cities where orders for vegan food are most frequently placed: Los Angeles, CA; Brooklyn, NY; Portland, OR; Las Vegas, NV; Rochester, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Detroit, MI; and San Diego, CA.
