Starting June 18, meat-heavy chain Byron—which has more than 50 locations across the United Kingdom—will add the Beyond Burger in the form of two vegan burgers to its summer menu. The Truffler will feature the plant-based patty topped with vegan truffle cheese sauce alongside portobello mushrooms, truffle mayonnaise, crispy onions, and lettuce. The Cali Cheese piles vegan cheddar atop the Beyond Burger patty, which is complemented with roasted garlic aioli, smoked tomato ketchup, red onions, pickles, and lettuce. “We know that our diners are often keen for lighter alternatives when the warmer months kick in and our new summer menu ticks all the boxes,” Sophie Michell, Byron Food and Drink Director, said. “The new vegan burgers are the most exciting part, you have classic summer flavors in the Cali Cheese (inspired by California) and all-out decadence in the Truffler. We designed them to be enjoyed by committed vegans and people who just want to cut down on their meat consumption, without compromising on flavor.” Last year, Byron added its first vegan burger, The Beetnik, to its menu before expanding its plant-based offerings—which were previously limited to fries, a side salad, and tortilla chips—to include a vegan coconut ice cream-based “freakshake” topped with an entire brownie and crumbled brownie pieces.
