Today, meal-kit subscription service Blue Apron announced its partnership with vegan brand Beyond Meat. Starting in August, the company will begin featuring the Beyond Burger as an ingredient in two vegetarian recipes and will explore other Beyond Meat products as the basis for future recipes. “We know a growing number of customers are interested in plant-based proteins, whether as an alternative to meat, a desire to explore a new ingredient, or an opportunity to make more sustainable food choices,” Blue Apron CEO Linda Kozlowski said. “We are proud to introduce Beyond Meat products to our menu, beginning with its flagship Beyond Burger. Blue Apron recipes are designed to evoke a sense of discovery and, as a meal-kit partner, we have a unique opportunity to teach our customers how to cook a wide variety of cuisines with plant-based protein.” Upon announcing its partnership with Beyond Meat—which had the most successful initial public offering of 2019 when it began trading on NASDAQ in May—Blue Apron stocks surged by more than 50 percent, reviving the company from a long period of stagnation on the stock market.
