This month, zero-waste beauty and lifestyle brand Ethique launched at 50 select Target stores in New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, New Jersey, Illinois, North Carolina, and South Carolina, and online at Ethique’s vegan, cruelty-free, and certified organic products are naturally sourced from ingredients such as coconut oil, cocoa butter, and essential oils, and bundled in colorful, fully compostable packaging. The brand’s debut into Target includes 14 products such as Pinkalicious Shampoo Bar, Ginger Snap Face Scrub, and Charcoal Kaolin and Oatmeal Bodywash Bar. Ethique founder Brianne West started making natural beauty bars in 2012 as an alternative to the 80 billion plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles that are thrown out globally each year. Since then, Ethique (which is French for “ethical”) has grown into an international beauty brand with more than 40 products and is sold in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan and shipped worldwide.
