British footwear company Gola recently launched its Gola Classics Vegan line, a collection of shoe styles that underwent rigorous testing to ensure that no animal-derived products are present in their composition. “With the rise of veganism as a lifestyle choice and with many of you querying which of our styles are vegan-friendly, Gola is proud to announce the launch of its Gola Classics Vegan range,” the footwear brand announced on its website. Gola opted to put its vegan line through Ve-MAP chemical testing—a DNA-based process that can detect traces of animal materials—and received a stamp of approval from The Vegan Society to assure that all of the shoes in the line are 100-percent vegan. The Gola Classic Vegan collection includes styles for women (Coaster in Classic, Rainbow, Hi-Tops, and Mirror; and Mark Cox in a variety of colors); men’s options (Comet, Comet Canvas,Tennis Mark Cox, and Varsity); and shoes for kids (Coaster Rainbow Velcro and Coaster Velcro). Classic shoe brands have embraced the rising demand for vegan options, including Adidas which partnered with designer Stella McCartney last year to create a vegan version of its iconic Stan Smith sneakers, which quickly became the new go-to shoe for musician Madonna and Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.
