Bellissima Prosecco—an alcoholic beverage company owned by vegetarian supermodel Christie Brinkley—is now vegan certified. Certification program BevVeg International conducted an extensive review of the ingredients used by the alcohol company, along with visiting its Italian production vineyard, to ensure that Bellissima Processco does not use animal byproducts in its formulations or production methods—such as gelatin, egg whites, and isinglass (a substance derived from fish bladders) that many producers of alcoholic beverages use as fining agents. BevVeg International founder and CEO Carissa Kranz says that the vegan symbol now displayed on Bellissima Prosecco is a “stamp of approval” allowing customers to identify ethical products easily, adding “It’s about being forthcoming with information, ingredients, processes, facilities, and the like.”
