Award-winning vegan director James Cameron believes people need to take drastic action to fight the impending climate crisis, according to a recent interview with Variety. “People need to wake the f*ck up,” Cameron said. “We’re going the wrong direction as fast as possible. I like to say that we’re like Thelma and Louise. We’re driving straight toward the canyon at 90 miles per hour with the radio cranked up and the top down.” To do their part, the vegan director and his vegan wife Suzy Amis Cameron are working on a variety of initiatives. The pair operate vegan MUSE school in California, which is currently being franchised to other locations. The pair also run Verdient Foods, a company that will open a pea- and pulse-processing facility in Canada to support the booming plant-based meat industry. “Look at the amazing success of Beyond Meat and the stock market. I mean, it’s not a trend—it’s actually the way the world is going,” Suzy Amis Cameron said. Cameron—who executively produced newly released vegan documentary The Game Changers—only serves vegan food to the crew on set of his four upcoming sequels to Avatar which are slated for release in 2020, 2021, 2024, and 2025.
