Professional beauty supply company Sally Beauty Holdings aims to transition its product offerings to be 80 percent vegan by the end of its 2021 fiscal year as part of its SBS Green initiative. “Sally Beauty is committed to a top-down transformation. Making our operations more sustainable helps our communities and our business,” Sally Beauty Supply President Aaron Alt said. “Our customer base wants to see a more environmentally friendly Sally, and we’re proud of the plan we’ve developed to get us there.” The company currently offers up to 8,000 products through 5,089 stores, including 179 franchised units, and has operations throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Peru, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany. In addition to focusing on vegan products, the company will ban plastic bags this year at its Sally Beauty, CosmoProf, and corporate-owned Armstrong McCall stores, saving more than 104 million plastic bags from landfills annually. While the beauty supplier is not related to the Sally Hansen brand, the nail-polish company is making its own move toward vegan products with the November launch of its first fully vegan nail polish line available exclusively at Target.
