This week, Tofurky’s Plant-Based Burger debuted at more than 600 Target stores nationwide. The new product is a beef-style burger is made with a blend of soy and vegetable protein and wheat gluten, and is available in a pack of two patties for $5.99 in Target’s produce section. “I can’t wait for Target shoppers to try our new Plant-Based Burger. We are very happy with the final recipe and beef-style texture,” Tofurky President and CEO Jaime Athos said. “Many flexitarians resolve to go completely plant-based for the month of January, so we wanted to provide a new burger option now, ahead of summer grilling, that is affordable, delicious, and accessible.” Last year, Tofurky raised $7 million in investment capital to streamline its production and fuel innovation. In addition to the new burgers, the 40-year-old company entered the dessert sector last February with the debut of its Moochoo vegan cheesecake line.
