Food brand Abe’s—known for its best-selling vegan mini-muffins—recently launched a vegan layer cake line at Whole Foods Markets in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, Ralphs Fresh Fare Stores, and select HyVee locations. The new Celebration Cake line features three flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, and Carrot. Each allergen-friendly cake (which has a suggested retail price between $22.99 and $23.99) is loaded with layers of vegan frosting and is topped with colorful sprinkles.

“Parents are telling us that this will be the first time they’re able to purchase a store-bought cake for their child,” Abe’s founder Marty Koffman said. “They are thrilled to now have the option to purchase a cake at the store versus needing to bake at home.” Koffman, along with his brother Joby, created the brand for his nephew Abe who has severe food allergies and said that the new cake line will make it easier for children with food allergies to “not feel singled-out at gatherings and can take part in the festivities like everyone else.”

Last year, Abe’s began to transition its packaging from plastic to sustainable paperboard, which the Celebration Cakes are packed in, and aims to expand the packaging to its other product lines.
