Vegan product JUST Egg has been outselling all plant-based cheese, yogurt, margarine, almond and soy milk, tofu, seitan, and tempeh in the top five American supermarket chains. The data—collected by global analytics company Neilson for California-based technology startup JUST—shows that the mung bean-based egg outperformed all brands of plant-based food protein, excluding private labels, for four weeks in December. The data does not disclose identifying information about other brands. The data also shows that JUST Egg is the fourth best-selling, branded plant-based food protein at the five retailers. The performance report comes ahead of the April launch of a new folded JUST Egg vegan omelette in the frozen section of retailers. In May, JUST also plans to debut the newest version of its vegan JUST Egg at a lower price.
