This summer, a new vegan culinary school will open in Boulder, CO. The Vegan Fusion Culinary Academy, led by acclaimed vegan chef Mark Reinfeld, will train the next generation of chefs in the fastest-growing segment of the food industry. “Our goal is to provide a comprehensive, hands-on culinary education combining the latest skills, techniques, and equipment with time-tested methodologies to create stellar vegan and raw cuisine,” the academy’s website says. The academy—which has applied to the State of Colorado to be the first accredited vegan culinary school in the United States—will offer three distinct programs: an intensive, full-time course for aspiring chefs; two-day and five-day training for current culinary professionals looking grow their knowledge of plant-based cooking; and workshops, evening classes, and five- to 10-day immersions for home cooks. Guest instructors will include leaders in the industry, including Ron Pickarski, Miyoko Schinner, Fran Costigan, JL Fields, and Dreena Burton. The culinary facility will also host educational workshops, professional intensives for working chefs, and community events.
