This week, Vegan Essentials added a new line of vegan cheese made by San Francisco-based brand The Uncreamery to its online marketplace. The Uncreamery’s nut-based cheeses are available for $11.99 each in two wheel varieties (Classic Brie and Truffle Brie) and three blocks (Dill Havarti, Ghost Pepper Jack, and Smoked Gouda).

Founded in 2018 by Lisa Kolesnik and chef Mark Charette, the company creates cheeses that shred, slice, and melt like their dairy-based counterparts but without causing harm to animals. Initially, the couple produced their cheeses in La Cocina, a shared production incubator in San Francisco and secured a $10,000 loan last year to expand to their own production facility. “My partner and The Uncreamery chef Mark is part-French which explains his love for fine cheeses,” Kolesnik told VegNews. “We hope to fill the void for those who miss dairy but have to avoid it for ethical or health reasons. We aimed to create a versatile product so you don’t have to make a choice between everyday melting cheeses and fine cheese board varieties. All of our cheeses can be melted or enjoyed cold, and are equally delicious either way.”

In addition to The Uncreamery’s cheeses, Vegan Essential delivers a wide variety of vegan groceries nationwide—with only slight delays in delivery during the coronavirus pandemic.
