This week, Gathered Foods—the parent company of vegan seafood brand Good Catch Foods—welcomed a group of celebrity investors to its roster, including Woody Harrelson, Shailene Woodley, Paris Hilton, and Lance Bass. Vegan chefs and brothers Chad and Derek Sarno founded Good Catch with the mission of saving the world’s oceans by creating vegan seafood alternatives. In 2019, Good Catch debuted its first products: vegan Fish-Free Tuna pouches in Mediterranean, Naked in Water, and Oil & Herbs flavors.

“I’ve been living a vegan lifestyle for over 30 years. My diet has been driven by the love I have for the environment,” Harrelson said. “I have known Chad Sarno for years and am a huge fan of the culinary work Chad and his brother Derek are driving in the market. I’m excited to work with a food brand like Good Catch that leads with taste and aligns with my personal beliefs of making a difference for the animals and our planet.”

Good Catch products are now available at more than 4,500 retail outlets across the United States and United Kingdom. The company previously raised $36.8 million in a Series B financing round and with investments from this group, plans to expand its international distribution and product line.

“As an advocate for conservation, our planet and its oceans, I work with organizations around the world to help combat climate change and protect our oceans from pollution. That’s why aligning with Good Catch feels like a natural extension of my continued work,” Woodley—of Big Little Lies fame—said. “They are a like-minded brand that is doing their part to have a positive impact on our oceans and our planet, all while creating delicious plant-based seafood alternatives. I’m excited to see what innovative products they come up with next.”

In March, Gathered Foods announced a joint venture partnership with tuna giant Bumble Bee Foods—the first time a major seafood brand partnered with a vegan company—that will result in Good Catch leveraging Bumble Bee’s sales, distribution, and logistics expertise to make its vegan products accessible to a wide range of customers at affordable prices.
