This month, global coffee chain Starbucks is introducing new menu items featuring plant-based meat from Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods in select markets across the Asia-Pacific region. In Hong Kong, Starbucks is adding the Maize Impossible Sandwich (Impossible Sausage with egg, cheese, onion, roasted pumpkin, salad vegetables, and mayonnaise on maize bread); the Spiced Impossible Puff (Impossible Burger with red onions and sriracha chili sauce in puff pastry); and a vegan chocolate breadstick. In New Zealand, Starbucks is adding the Mince & Cheese Pie with Impossible Meat and cheese in a pastry. In Singapore, the new Impossible Wrap features an Impossible Burger patty, avocado omelet, mushrooms, caramelized onion, and cheese. In Taiwan, the new menu items include the Beyond Meat Bolognese Penne (Beyond beef, Italian tomato sauce, penne noodles, cauliflower, and shimeji mushrooms); The Beyond Meat Sausage Sandwich (Beyond Meat patty, mushrooms, broccoli, tomato, cheese, onions, and smoked bacon-flavored mayonnaise on a soft bread roll); and the Beyond Meatball Sandwich (Beyond Meat, mushrooms, broccoli, onions, and spicy chicken-mustard sauce on French bread). And in Thailand, the Beyond Meat Sandwich features a Beyond Meat patty with cheddar cheese and Thousand Island sauce on a ciabatta roll.

“We’re thrilled to offer our customers more ways to personalize their Starbucks experience and enjoy plant-based choices at Starbucks,” said Sara Trilling, President, Starbucks Asia Pacific. “This menu expansion is designed to offer our customers the same flavors and handcrafted service they know and love from Starbucks, in a new way.  We’re excited to continue our journey toward becoming resource positive together with our customers in Asia.”

The new items also build on recent plant-based meat options in the United States and Canada and are part of Starbucks’ global sustainability commitment to be resource- and planet-positive by 2030.
