Convenience store chain 7-Eleven recently introduced vegan Tofu Musubi to its shelves at all 64 locations in Hawaii, a spokesperson tells VegNews. The new grab-and-go snack item—a vegan take on iconic Hawaiian dish Spam Musubi—features a base of brown rice, topped with tofu glazed in teriyaki sauce, seasoned with furikake (a mixture of sesame seeds, seaweed, and spices), and wrapped with roasted nori. “This Tofu Musubi was developed to meet our customers’ growing needs for vegan or vegetarian products,” Debbie Lee Soon, 7-Eleven Hawaii Category Manager, told VegNews. The new product will be on the shelves in Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii island until January 11, and the chain hopes to reintroduce the vegan snack next year.
