Alabama Zoo Inspection Finds Animals’ At Risk
Federal inspections have found repeated infractions at The Mobile Zoo that demonstrate inadequate veterinary care and living conditions.

A July inspection of the Mobile Zoo in Alabama by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, found 17 separate violations related to the endangerment of the animals’ health and unfit living conditions. The citations ranged from black bears being subject to high temperatures without adequate measures of staying cool, the macaque primates’ climbing structures being in disrepair, as well as inadequate veterinary care and medication administration. The USDA inspection of Mobile Zoo came after a former employee notified People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals of the dangerous and inhumane conditions that the animals were subject to; according to PETA , every inspection of the Alabama zoo since 2010 has resulted in citations for similar infractions.
