This week, new research was released from a cancer study that included more than 164,000 women worldwide. The findings? If you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer, a plant-based diet is the best way to lessen the chances of a second occurrence. The study found that a diet of fruit and vegetables—along with maintaining a healthy weight and getting regular exercise—is the optimal defense against future diagnoses. In a statement by the American Institute for Cancer Research, Associate Director for Nutrition Programs Alice Bender said, “We know there are many reasons for women to eat a plant-based diet and be active, both for cancer prevention and overall health.”
