This week, fast-food chain Burger King expanded its Impossible Whopper to three cities outside of its initial St. Louis, MO test market. With expansion efforts to more than 7,000 Burger King locations nationwide officially underway, the plant-based burger is now available at Burger King locations in Miami, Columbus, GA, and Montgomery, AL. On April 1, Burger King added the Impossible Whopper to the menu of 59 St. Louis, MO locations to test the meat-free option with consumers. The Impossible Whopper features a flame-grilled Impossible Burger 2.0 patty topped with sliced tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and onions on a toasted sesame-seed bun—and can be made vegan if ordered without the mayonnaise. “The Impossible Whopper test in St. Louis went exceedingly well and as a result, there are plans to extend testing into additional markets in the very near future,” the company said in a statement. Earlier this week, Impossible Foods announced that it has closed a $300 million Series E funding round—which included A-list investors such as Serena Williams, Trevor Noah, Jay-Z, Katy Perry, among others—to help the plant-based company expand its production to meet the additional demand created by its partnership with Burger King.
