Vegan chef Charity Morgan recently delivered free plant-based meals to the victims of last week’s tornado in Nashville, TN. Morgan is a professional Le Cordon Bleu-educated chef and the wife of former National Football League (NFL) linebacker Derrick Morgan. She is best known for helping 15 players on Derrick’s NFL team the Tennessee Titans adopt a plant-based diet. The day the tornado hit, Morgan cooked 200 black bean and rice bowls with vegetables and guacamole for those in need, and on another day she cooked 200 Beyond Burgers and brats with a side of smoky potato salad. “The tornado hit five miles from my house and I realized that could have been my family,” Morgan told VegNews. “I did what my heart said to do and that was get up and do something.” Morgan says she is continuing to check with local outreach groups to see if more meals are needed and where.
