Chocolate & Vegetable Biofuel

The newest car to hit the racetrack is made out of potatoes and carrots and runs on chocolate.

It’s no big secret that the VN staff doesn’t operate optimally without chocolate, but apparently we’re not the only ones. Drs. Kerry Kirwin, Steve Maggs, and James Meredith at the University of Warwick in the UK have invented a race car that runs on our favorite treat. Technically—and thankfully—the first biofuel-based race car will be fueled with chocolate waste and vegetable oil, rather than squares of Green & Black’s. The “WorldFirst Formula 3 racing car” also boasts a steering wheel made from carrot and other root-vegetable-based fibers and a seat made of flax fiber and soybean oil foam. Oh, and engineers hope it will reach speeds upwards of 145 mph. Not too shabby for a plant-based diet!
