A Missouri court sentenced poacher David Berry, Jr. to one year in state prison for illegally killing hundreds of deer, taking their heads, and leaving their bodies to rot. The poacher was arrested after an eight and a half month investigation into his crimes across multiple states and Canada, one of the largest poaching cases in history. Berry will serve 120 days in a Barton County jail for a firearms probation violation before serving a year-long sentence in Lawrence County jail—where a judge ordered that he will be required to watch Disney classic film Bambi once per month during his sentence. Father David Berry, Sr., who was involved in this crime along with others, and his namesake son will have their hunting, poaching, and trapping permits revoked for life.
