International pizza chain Domino’s Australia took to Facebook today to ascertain demand for vegan cheese. “Do you want vegan cheese?” the pizza chain inquired, before directing its 1 million Facebook followers to a voting link. Domino’s post received more than 4,000 likes in a matter of hours, with commenters excitedly praising the chain for the potential vegan menu option. “I am not vegan,” commenter Blake Besley of Brisbane responded. “I am not vegetarian nor am I lactose intolerant. But as there are people who are, I think this is an absolute great idea, so I will vote yes for those who want it.” Competitor pizza brand Pizza Hut added vegan cheese—courtesy of Greek brand Violife—to menus at five of its United Kingdom locations last month to test demand for vegan options in that region.
