Eggs Linked to Cancer

A new study that followed tens of thousands of men shows that consuming eggs considerably increases the risk of advanced prostate cancer.

Last month, Cancer Prevention Research published the results of a National Institutes of Health-funded 14-year study that found a link between lethal prostate cancer and the consumption of eggs. After following more than 27,000 men from 1994 to 2008, researchers found that otherwise-healthy men who ate two-and-a-half or more eggs per week were 81 percent more likely to develop fatal prostate cancer than those who consumed less than half an egg each week. Conversely, the American Institute of Cancer Research recommends a plant-heavy diet rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and beans to combat the risk of developing cancer.
