As if we don’t have enough reasons to be jealous of the French already. In addition to their 35-hour workweek and amazing nationalized healthcare system, they excel at something, well two things, actually, that we Americans can’t seem to get right—eating and sleeping. According to data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s most recent Society at a Glance report, the French spend more time eating every day than any of the other 18 developed nations they surveyed. Add that to the fact that they also spend more time sleeping—a full nine hours on average—and we’re starting to think that maybe it’s time to bid America adieu. But before you don the beret and baguette, take heart: Americans come in second with an average of 8.7 hours of sleep.
