Giant Supermarket Chain Debuts Own Vegan Butters

Tesco, a chain of British grocery stores and the third largest retailer in the world, has developed its own line of vegan butter. Made from plant oils, the new Avocado Spreads and Coconut Spreads are available now in Tesco locations, retail for $1.74 for approximately nine ounces, and are good sources of vitamins A and D and omega 3s. The vegan substitutes hit shelves as several reports find animal-free eating habits are quickly gaining steam in the United Kingdom and throughout Western Europe, while recent dietary guidelines have slashed dairy-consumption recommendations by nearly 50 percent.
