New vegan restaurant Tiki Loco will open in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, TX in September. The concept was created by local tattoo artist Oliver Peck who was once married to fellow tattoo artist/vegan activist Kat Von D and is known for his appearance on television show Ink Masters. Tiki Loco will occupy the combined the space of shuttered pizzeria Zini’s Pizza as well as a neighboring bar and bridal shop for a total of 2,500 square feet. The menu will include vegan tacos, flatbreads, smoothies, pressed juices, and Hawaiian shaved ice—which is a novel concept for the neighborhood, according to project manager Shaw Hodges. “We saw a hole in Deep Ellum for really good coffee and healthy food that you can get without sitting down and ordering, or having to modify items on a typical menu,” Hodges told Eater. “Oliver lives a really healthy lifestyle and wanted to fill the gap down here.” The restaurant will be the first franchise location of local coffee chain White Rock Coffee and will serve the “nine to five crowd,” offer lunch options, and stay open late night to serve party-goers in the bustling Dallas entertainment district.
