Furniture chain IKEA sold 1 million vegan hot dogs in two months since it launched the new option in European locations. IKEA Food Services took to Instagram to make the momentous announcement with a short video wherein it thanked customers for making a positive choice for the planet. “We’re happy that you like the new veggie hot dog as much as we do,” IKEA captioned the video. “In the first two months, IKEA stores in Europe sold around 1 million veggie hot dogs. From all of us at IKEA Food to all of you: 1 million times thank you for making planet positive choices!” IKEA’s vegan hot dog was initially tested at one location in Sweden before the brand expanded the offering to all European outlets this summer. IKEA launched the vegan hot dog (served on a vegan bun and topped with onions and cabbage) at all United States locations last week and in Canada this week. To complement the hot dog, the furniture chain plans to add vegan soft-serve to the menu in summer 2019.
