Impossible Burger is Now Certified Kosher

This week, California-based company Impossible Foods received kosher certification from the Orthodox Union for its plant-based Impossible Burger. The company will also seek halal certification this year. “Getting kosher certification is an important milestone,” Impossible Foods CEO Patrick O. Brown said. “We want the Impossible Burger to be ubiquitous, and that means it must be affordable and accessible to everyone–including people who have food restrictions for religious reasons.” Impossible Foods launched its plant-based burger at select upscale restaurants in 2016 and recently expanded its distribution to include 140 locations of fast-food chain White Castle and three restaurants in Hong Kong—its first international debut.
