East Vancouver’s new vegetarian restaurant Veggiebowl recently began serving its meatless renditions of Vietnamese classics in the Kensington-Cedar Cottage neighborhood: phở, spring rolls, curry with French bread for dipping, and bun––the popular spicy noodle soup from the central city of Hue. The operation is family-owned and small––the menu features just eight items––but four of the eight dishes are vegan and MSG-free, including shredded tofu rolls and curry with fried tofu, carrots, and faux chicken, according to straight.com. Veggiebowl makes fresh soymilk in-house and offers a ten-percent discount on Mondays in celebration of the Meatless Monday campaign.
