Mercy For Animals to Honor Emily Deschanel

Animal-rights organization Mercy For Animals will be holding a soirée on June 2 to commend Bones actress Emily Deschanel for her efforts to raise awareness about the plight of farm animals. Deschanel, a dedicated vegan, has penned several open letters about animal-welfare issues and spoke publicly about her decision to continue to abstain from meat and dairy throughout her pregnancy last year. She has also appeared in campaigns for Farm Sanctuary, In Defense of Animals, and the Humane Society of the United States. MFA’s elegant event in her honor is titled “Justice For All: A Night for Creatures Big and Small,” and will feature vegan hors d’oeuvres, a VIP reception with Champagne and cocktails, and a presentation about the organization’s work to improve conditions for farm animals.
