Mini Avocados Available at Trader Joe’s

Supermarket Trader Joe’s recently launched Teeny Tiny Avocados, a bag of six miniature Hass avocados available for $2.69 on the West Coast and in Texas, and $2.99 elsewhere. With the recent hike in prices, this product is comparable to the cost of one (maybe two) average-sized avocados. “No waste, no wrapping up the other half for another time and hoping it’s still good when you’re ready to eat it,” the supermarket says about the appeal of the new single-serving avocados. A study published in April in medical journal Psychotherapy Research revealed that daily consumption of avocado helps to stave off metabolic syndrome by lowering blood pressure, reducing LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, increasing HDL (“good”) cholesterol, diminishing triglyceride levels, amongst other benefits. In recent years, the fruit has become so popular that incidences of “avocado hand”—or severe injury incurred from cutting an avocado improperly—have been on the rise according to medical professionals.
