Scientists at the NASA headquarters in Cape Canaveral, FL were recently treated to a screening of vegan documentary The Game Changers. Released last year, the documentary is narrated by mixed martial arts champion and Special Forces trainer James Wilks and follows a diverse group of elite athletes that have thrived on a plant-based diet with the aim of dispelling the myth that consumption of animal products is key for athletic performance.

“Plant-based eating is the future, and not just on Earth,” the film captioned photos of Wilks alongside NASA scientists on Instagram. “We were honored to screen for NASA, where we learned that only plant-foods will be grown in space—including the Moon, Mars, and beyond—due to their inherent efficiency and superior nutrient profile.” In October, Israel-based startup Aleph Farms successfully created cell-based meat at the International Space Station (ISS) just outside of the Earth’s orbit, approximately 248 miles from any natural resources, proving that new forms of agriculture could be implemented outside of this planet.
