United Kingdom-based startup Moving Mountains Foods will soon debut the B12 Burger, a vegan, meat-like patty that is fortified with vitamin B-12. The company’s scientists spent two years developing the plant-based patty made from mushrooms, potatoes, beets, wheat and soy proteins, and coconut oil for a “fatty” consistency—ingredients similar to the popular United States-based Beyond Burger. “Delve into a guilt-free trip of indulgence with one bite into the future,” the company states on its teaser homepage. “Never has a burger tasted so delicious without the loss of a single animal life.” The company aims to metaphorically “move mountains” by replacing traditional beef patties with its plant-based burger—that sizzles and tastes similar to its animal-based counterpart—to create a more sustainable food system.
