New vegan eatery UnSoul Food recently opened a brick-and-mortar location in Philadelphia, PA. The new eatery is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving items such as vegan seafood salad, fried chicken and waffles, cheesesteaks, and its award-winning mac and cheese.

Vegan chefs and owners Bryon and Natasha Dockett started their food business last year originally under the name Sweet Potato, offering vegan soul food dishes through catering and pop-ups. The couple also started Philly Vegan Night Market, a weekly market in Point Breeze featuring UnSoul Food and other vegan vendors.

UnSoul Food’s grand opening lineup featured fried chicken, biscuits, seafood gumbo, collard greens, and candied yams. “We’ve been taking requests on social media. People want things we made for the night market,” Bryon told media outlet Eater. “We’ll rotate it every Saturday to keep people interested, and to give us an opportunity to test out new dishes.”

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the eatery will start by offering takeout before adding delivery options and outdoor dining.
