New Vegan Doughnut and Gelato Shop Opens in Oakland

Vegan Donut Gelato held a soft opening last week of its second location in Oakland, CA. The store opened its flagship in Modesto last year with the mission of mainstreaming plant-based versions of classic doughnuts and organic almond milk-based gelato. The new shop will offer a wide selection of doughnuts (priced between $2–$5) that includes glazed, sugar, jelly-filled, chocolate-covered, and cake varieties, along with other doughnut-like pastries such as bear claws, apple fritters, and twists. The new store does not yet serve gelato (available in about five weeks)—which the Modesto location offers in flavors such as cheesecake, rocky road, and marshmallow—and will host a grand opening this month.
