Hollywood’s elite are probably used to caviar by now. It is, after all, one of the most expensive foods you can possibly consume, usually starting at around $990 per ounce for the most premium variety on the market. For the average American, that’s a large chunk of their monthly rent or mortgage payment. For A-listers, it’s pocket change.
For this year’s Oscars ceremony, marketing company Distinctive Assets is gifting nominees premium caviar in their unofficial goodie bags—but it’s not typical caviar, it’s Cavi-art. The vegan caviar is made with seaweed and produced by Plant Based Foods Inc.

According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which contributed Cavi-art to the gift bags, the vegan caviar “is a savory, satisfying delicacy that doesn’t harm sensitive, feeling sea animals or deplete the ocean’s ecosystems.”
Vegan-friendly gifts in the Oscars goodie bags
Cavi-art isn’t the only vegan gift in this year’s unofficial Oscars goodie bags. In fact, the offerings are actually pretty vegan-friendly. See for yourself:

The Gunas New York vegan handbag is also a gift from PETA. According to the animal rights organization, the bags are every bit as stylish as a Birkin, only they’re made with “microfiber vegan leather” instead of animal skin.

Cann’s Social Tonics are another vegan inclusion. The tonics, infused with THC and CBD, are made with ingredients like sparkling water, fresh juice, and agave nectar, and are designed to help you kick back and relax without the hangover. It’s the same with Señorita’s THC-infused non-alcoholic margaritas, which come in flavors like lime jalapeño and mango.
Most of the hotels and villas are either plant-forward (like Golden Door in San Marcos, CA, which provides personalized meals made with ingredients from its own bio-intensive farm) or willing to provide vegan-only meals.
“Our extraordinary nominee gifts are in no way based on need,” said Lash Fary, the founder of Distinctive Assets. “We are acknowledging these amazing nominees while elevating and showcasing small businesses, minority-owned brands, female entrepreneurs, and companies that give back at a time when everyone can use a little more fun and frivolity.”

Vegan caviar, with a side of prenup
This is the Oscars, so of course, there are some slightly more, let’s say, extra experiences included in the unofficial goodie bag.
Nominees will also receive a liposuction experience from ArtLipo, ultra-secure cryptocurrency storage from Ballet, facial rejuvenation procedures from Konstantin Vasyukevich, MD, and even a custom prenuptial agreement from divorce attorney Jim Sexton.
“The ‘Everyone Wins’ Gift Bag has become known as the ultimate consolation prize,” added Fary. “Win or lose, the nominees have touched our lives with their incredible performances and artistry. This is a small token of our esteem that we hope will be enjoyed and shared.”
