Denver-based eatery Bang Up to the Elephant! recently removed all animal products from its doughnuts. This Capitol Hill eatery previously offered vegan and non-vegan options, but replaced animal products in its doughnuts with plant-based ingredients due to customer demand. “Once we switched to just offering vegan doughnuts, there were no complaints,” owner Kevin Delk told VegNews. “If anything, I think we get more positive responses for these just due to the fact that more of our guests are either vegan or simply interested in, and exploring, this diet for various reasons, so having the option for them has been welcomed, with excitement.” The Caribbean-inspired eatery offers tropical doughnut flavors and classic varieties such as glazed and cinnamon sugar. In addition to vegan doughnuts, several of the restaurant’s regular menu items can be made vegan upon request, including breakfast foods such as Mofongo Hash, lunch and dinner items such as Cruise Ship Pasta, Seitan Cubano sandwiches, and Jackfruit Roti.
