Stand-up comedienne and writer Carol Leifer—known for her work on Seinfeld, Saturday Night Live, and Curb Your Enthusiasm—stars in a new video that promotes an all-vegan Hanukkah celebration. Liefer partnered with animal-rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to produce the two-minute clip, which features tips to make butter-free latkes, egg-free sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts), and dark chocolate gelt. With the help of two young assistants, Liefer instructs viewers about making sure their menorah candles are made from soy, not beeswax, for the ultimate vegan Festival of Lights celebration. “So, this holiday season,” Leifer said to conclude the clip, “you can serve delicious, traditional favorites, and be kind to animals by veganizing your festivities. Oy’s well that ends well. You’re not above that joke. You’re not, and you know it.”
