This week, subscription meal service Daily Harvest debuted Scoops, a line of vegan ice cream made with wholesome ingredients. The new line offers four flavors: Chocolate + Ooey, Gooey Midnight Fudge; Vanilla + Salted, Swirled Black Sesame; Strawberry + Rich, Rippled Berry Compote; and Mint + Dark, Melty Cacao Chips.

Daily Harvest CEO Rachel Drori founded the company in 2015 with the mission of bringing customers healthy and convenient plant-based meals that require little preparation. The company now offers a variety of smoothies, bowls, soups, and flatbreads that are stored in the freezer and prepared with a one-step process, either blending, soaking, or heating. Starting at $8.99 per pint, the ice creams—which can be eaten with no extra preparation—are now an available option in Daily Harvest’s flexible subscription plans which allow customers to craft personalized boxes of 9, 12, or 24 items that are delivered either weekly or monthly.

“At Daily Harvest, we develop our food directly with the people who eat it. They asked us to make something better—a plant-based ice cream that is truly decadent and made with real ingredients,” Drori told VegNews. “With this new collection, I’m excited to expand our portfolio with a plant-based dessert that you can feel good about eating. At Daily Harvest, our mission is to take care of food, so that food can take care of you.”

In an effort to take better care of the planet, the company began to roll out 100-percent compostable and recyclable packaging made from plant-based fibers in April.
