World’s largest restaurant chain introduces vegan menu items at Los Angeles’ stores.

Subway, the world’s largest restaurant chain, is testing out two vegan sandwiches before deciding whether they will be rolled out at stores across the United States. Available now at select locations in Los Angeles, the Malibu Garden (vegetable patty with a creamy fire-roasted tomato sauce) and Black Bean (black bean, brown rice, and corn patty with a sweet potato curry sauce) is already receiving rave reviews from customers and Subway employees alike. With more than 35,000 locations worldwide, a roll-out of these vegan sandwiches is significant. Since 2010, animal-rights organization Compassion Over Killing has spearheaded a “We Love Subway” campaign to encourage the restaurant to introduce vegan menu options.
