Swedish vegan pea milk brand Sproud recently secured $6.5 million in new funding from growth venture firm VGC Partners. Since its launch in 2018, the company has raised $12 million in funding and has expanded to 15 markets, including the United States, where it launched in 2020 and is available in supermarkets, independent shops, cafes, and restaurants, and online retailers such as Amazon, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Vitacost. With the new investment, Sproud plans to expand its distribution and brand-building activities in the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and further develop its product range.

Pea is for Protein
Sproud’s vegan milk products are made using a proprietary blend of protein from yellow split peas, GMO-free oils and syrups, fortified with essential vitamins. Sproud contains double the amount of protein in oat milk and five times the amount in almond milk.

“We are really pleased to have the backing of VGC on our mission to create the best tasting, and most sustainable plant-based offering on the market,” Sproud Co-founder and Chairman Nicklas Jungberg said. “We have reached a stage where most people are now aware of the positive impacts that swapping dairy for vegan substitutes would have on our planet and health.”
