New York-based ice cream brand Van Leeuwen just launched its first line of chocolate-enrobed ice cream bars which includes three vegan flavors: Vanilla Wildberry Swirl, Brown Sugar Honeycomb, and Triple Chocolate Swirl. The bars are a nostalgic reminder of Van Leeuwen co-founders Pete and Ben Van Leeuwen’s childhood experience of driving an ice cream truck in the summer and selling ice cream on sticks.

“We haven’t been this excited about a product launch since we introduced our vegan line eight years ago—ice cream bars have long been a dream for us at Van Leeuwen,” Ben Van Leeuwen said. “We’ve spent the past 12 months perfecting every element and we are blown away by what we have been able to create.”

Vegan at Van Leeuwen

Founded as an ice cream truck in Brooklyn, NY in 2008, Van Leeuwen first debuted vegan ice cream in two flavors (chocolate and vanilla) in 2013 and has since expanded its offerings to include different dairy-free bases such as cashew and oat and exciting flavors, including a seasonal lineup of Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll, Bourbon Vanilla Apple Crisp, and Peanuts, Pretzels & Stout it launched last fall in stores and at its scoop shops.

The nostalgic bars are available now through Van Leeuwen’s website and will launch at select grocery stores in March, including Whole Foods, Giant, Central Market, Big Y, and Heinen’s.
