In an article titled “6 Easy-to-Prepare Meat Substitutes,” popular lifestyle magazine Woman’s Day outlines different options for where to get protein without eating meat. Citing health and environmental reasons, the article goes into how to prepare plant-based foods including tofu, beans, chickpeas, tempeh, portobello mushroom caps, and seitan. Ann Gentry, owner of the LA-based vegan restaurant Real Food Daily, also contributes her advice to the article. “Just as you’d do with chicken and red meat, you have to do something with [tofu] to give it flavor.” More mainstream magazines are featuring veg-friendly articles, including US Weekly, Prevention, and Vogue.
